SURREY, BC - Evolution of Communities Forum, hosted by the City of Surrey, today announces Dr. Paul Terry as the keynote speaker for the inaugural event, taking place April 22, 2015.

"Dr. Terry is a highly regarded expert in the area of big data and how it factors into both medical research and patient care," says event Chairman Councillor Bruce Hayne. "We are thrilled to have him participate in our inaugural event, and know that he will be extremely well received by delegates."

Dr. Terry is currently President and CEO of PHEMI Health Systems- a big data company that enables organizations to access data for insights to make better decisions. He is a member of the boards of directors for Providence Health Care and advisor to its subcommittees; a board member for Life Sciences BC and Molecular You; and is an advisor to the provincial government on next-generation data strategies. Paul is also a Privacy By Design ambassador.

Prior to his experience in healthcare and venture capital, Paul was the CTO and cofounder of OctigaBay Systems – a pioneer in high performance computing – which was acquired by Cray Inc, the world leader in supercomputing. He was also the cofounder and CTO of Abatis Systems, which was acquired by Redback Networks in one of the largest technology acquisitions in Canadian history.

Taking place at the Sheraton Guildford, the Evolution of Communities Forum casts a spotlight on business strategies, technologies and urban sustainability innovations. The Forum is poised to inform leaders who are tasked with the development of cities, while keeping watch on efficiency.

With visionary leaders and the opportunity to interact directly with those who are driving the evolution of planning, the forum is aimed for the betterment of the world's communities.
